5 steps to take to become a Green Photographer
A lot of photographers asked me “How to become a Green Photographer?”. I frequently replied that you already are green photographers at a certain level.
Like I already wrote few weeks ago in precedent article (10 rules to be a green photographer), I decide to make a quicker and smaller list to have a good start.
Here are the 5 steps to achieve to be green photographer quickly:
- Use a digital camera
- Use rechargeable batteries and recycle (see Theresa comment below)
- Use electronic delivery of images through e-mail, FTP and our website
- Send out your portfolio electronically only and finally,
- Use local business only to run your photographic business
These are the simple steps you can take quickly and I pretty sure, most of you, are already doing that.

Please add “recycle” to tip # 2. Rechargeable batteries can be charged up to 1,000 times and last between 2-5 years. But eventually when they can no longer hold a proper charge, they can be 100% recycled for free through http://www.call2recycle.org.
In addition to camera batteries, consider all the other rechargeable batteries used in cordless electronics by photographers – laptops, cell phones, camcorders, mp3 players, power tools, two-way radios, cordless GPS, etc… Any cordless electronic that needs to be plugged into to be recharged contains a rechargeable battery that can be recycled at end of life.
